Nan and baby escape after ute catches fire
A GRANDMOTHER and her grandchild escaped unharmed after the ute they were traveling in broke out in flames outside Bellarine Police Station on Monday morning.
Police said the female driver and the infant baby were in a blue Hilux and were driving past the Bellarine Police Station at 10am when she observed smoke coming from the rear tray.
The woman parked the vehicle and grabbed the baby from inside just before the ute was engulfed in fire.
The fire brigade then attended to extinguish the flames.
Police said the grandmother and grandchild escaped safe and well, while there was no further damage to buildings or other vehicles.
