Neville says party offenders will be held accountable

January 9, 2019 BY

MEMBER for Bellarine Lisa Neville has described the behaviour witnessed during a beach party in Point Lonsdale at the weekend as “nothing but disappointing”.

Ms Neville, who is also the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, said those found to have broken the law would be held to account.

“On behalf of the community I would like to thank Victoria Police for their swift and decisive response,” Ms Neville said.

“It is an important reminder for parents and their children to be more careful when posting about parties online – you do not have any control of who can turn up and if they will cause trouble.”

Police continued patrolling local beaches earlier this week after a number of teenagers were assaulted and robbed during the party on Saturday night.

The event was advertised on social media, drawing people from as far away as Melbourne.

Ms Neville encouraged anyone who may have  been a victim of an incident to contact their local police or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
