New chief to take the helm at Bellarine Bayside
BELLARINE Bayside has appointed a new chief executive officer.
Scott Crabtree, who has been serving as the organisation’s planning and environment manager since July last year, is set to step into the top job next month on Monday, October 26.
He has previously held leadership roles at Parks Victoria and the City of Greater Geelong and brings to the position more than 26 years of experience in planning, strategy, leadership and project management in a public land management setting.
Mr Crabtree will take over the role from current chief Bruce Elliot, who announced his intention to retire earlier this year in May.
Mr Elliot has led the not-for-profit since July 2020.
Mr Crabtree said he was delighted to be selected for the role.
“Bellarine Bayside is a leader in coastal land management, with a skilled team that is focused on working in partnership with the community and stakeholders to preserve and enhance the coast and provide outstanding experiences for all who use it,” he said.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the committee, staff and community alike who value the coast so dearly, building on past successes and deliver for the future.”
Bellarine Bayside’s committee of management chair Melanie Rogers celebrated Mr Crabtree’s appointment.
“Scott has extensive industry experience in public land management, combined with strong leadership skills and willingness to work collaboratively with others,” she said.
“With his considered approach and personable nature, we are confident that Scott is well placed to lead the organisation into the future.
“We are looking forward to working with Scott to ensure Bellarine Bayside continues to excel as a coastal land manager.”
The organisation manages a 17-kilometre stretch of coastal Crown land along the northern Bellarine Peninsula foreshore, spanning Portarlington, Indented Head and St Leonards.
