New children’s centre at Drysdale gets funding boost
A NEW Integrated Children’s Centre to be built at Drysdale has received a $1.3 million injection.
Bellarine MP Lisa Neville recently announced the state government funding for the $13 million centre, which is due to open in 2020.
The centre, which is designed to have a Green Star rating of five stars, is proposed to be built on vacant blocks at 38-40 High Street, next to the Bellarine Community Health Centre.
The centre will offer a minimum of 90 long day child care and 66 sessional kindergarten places for the community, as well as multi-purpose and consulting rooms and maternal and child health consulting services.
It is also being developed to accommodate population growth and the need to renew and expand existing service facilities.
“We know that high-quality early years education and care are vital to giving children the best start in life, which is why the government is investing in first-rate early learning facilities,” Ms Neville said.
“This exciting children’s hub will ensure Drysdale families can access quality early years and family services they need to help their children thrive.”
