THE City of Greater Geelong has launched an interactive capital works projects dashboard, allowing community members to delve into the 67 infrastructure projects now in motion throughout the region.

Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan said the region was booming.

“It is exciting to see the breadth of capital works projects happening across the region,” he said.

“We are working hard to deliver fit for purpose and modern infrastructure to meet our growing community’s needs.

“It’s worth having a look at the interactive platform and checking out what new and upgraded facilities are popping up around where you live.”

The online platform presents an array of projects at various development stages, from inception and planning to construction and completion.

Significant undertakings, such as the Leopold Tennis Pavilion and the Bell Park Sport and Recreation Club Changeroom, are among the 20 projects under construction.

Recent achievements highlighted on the dashboard include the opening of the Northern Aquatic and Community Hub in Norlane, the St Leonards foreshore pavilion, and the Barwon Heads Bowling Club pavilion, with 18 projects marked as completed or in the handover phase.

Deputy mayor Anthony Aitken said the dashboard offered increased transparency on city activity.

“The dashboard is important for transparency and will increase awareness of Council’s activities.”

“We’re pleased to make the data from our capital works projects publicly available and provide insights into our infrastructure planning process.”

The new dashboard complements the existing Geelong Data Exchange’s Major Projects dashboard which offers comprehensive datasets on various aspects, including land use, tree data, weather, and population statistics.

This broader platform encompasses major projects valued at more than $10 million across Greater Geelong and neighbouring areas, showcasing 161 projects worth $13.4 billion being planned, approved, under way, or recently completed in the Barwon region.
