A NEWLY constructed kayak launch has been installed at Queenscliff, providing easier water access for recreational boaters and aquatic users across the region.

Earlier this month, Better Boating Victoria completed the new kayak launch, which has replaced the previously informal access point at the Queenscliff boat ramp.

The new pontoon has a low landing feature, making it easy for users to enter and exit the water in their chosen craft and is also set to include an accessible gangway and small hoist for people of all abilities to use.

A Better Boating Victoria spokesperson said it was fantastic that six priority facilities across the state had been upgraded to get more aquatic users in the water.

The launch will be suitable for people of all-abilities and accessible via a gangway and a hoist.

“The kayak launch at Queenscliff will make it easier for kayakers to hit the water and ensure boaters and paddlers can spend time out on Swan Bay,” the spokesperson said.

“As part of the boat ramp development, an area used to launch kayaks was removed, so the new facility restores access for paddlers.

“To make boating easier on the Bellarine we’re also progressing boat ramp upgrade plans at St Leonards, parking upgrades at Clifton Springs and pontoons have recently been repaired at nearby Ocean Grove.”

A number of small car parks are available at the ramp; however the majority of parks will remain only for cars with trailers.
