New mural inside Bellarine business
A BLANK wall inside one Bellarine business has been transformed with a bright mural by a local artist.
Terri Pollock has taken her creative talent to the interior of Bellarine Smokehouse + Provedore, adding a splash of colour and brown honeyeater to the one grey wall.
“From the very start, I wanted to create something that felt organic to the space,” Ms Pollock said.
“The Bellarine Smokehouse is all about celebrating local produce, and I wanted the mural to reflect that connection to the land and the beauty of the animals and birds that inhabit it.”
Ms Pollock worked closed with Bellarine Smokehouse + Provedore owner Sarah Fenton to develop the piece, creating a number of different designs.
Over the space of a week, the mural came to life, as the artist used high quality paints, adding layers or colour, depth and fine details.
Ms Fenton said the mural is inspired by her love of natives and goes with everything in the shop, adding to the colour and celebration of local things.
“I love native birds, my garden is full of kangaroo paws, native flowers and I’ve got honey eaters that go through our garden and through the bottle brush, I love them.”
“I just can’t stop looking at it, just seeing and looking at the grevillea, the colours.”
The mural has been popular in the community already, with many stopping by to watch the process and admire the artwork.
“[I would like] to make this like a tourist attraction, people come through Drysdale, they don’t know it’s here, they have to find it, it’s like an inside silo.”
The mural can be found at 16/93 Murradoc Road, Drysdale. For more of Ms Pollock’s work, head to terripollockart.com or find her on Instagram @terri_pollock_art
