New pavilion an ace for Leopold Tennis Club
The $1.72 project was officially opened last week by City of Greater Geelong councillor Trent Sullivan and Bellarine MP Alison Marchant.
It features a social space and kiosk with a kitchen, external and internal storage, female-friendly club amenities and an accessible car bay.
Ms Marchant said members, guests, players and spectators will all benefit.
“Sports like tennis are an integral part of community life and we’re proud to invest in projects that get even more people active and on the court.
“The new pavilion and facilities are a game-changer for tennis in Leopold and I cannot wait to see the impact they will have on our local tennis scene.”
Mr Sullivan said he was thrilled to see upgrades completed in the Leopold Ward.
“The Leopold Tennis Club is a valued part of the community, and has members playing in senior, midweek and junior competitions, as well as playing host to junior tennis players undertaking coaching each week.
“The construction of this pavilion will ensure the needs of local tennis players and the broader community are met for many years to come, and I want to thank the Victorian government for its $1 million contribution to the upgrade via its Local Community Sport and Recreation Projects fund.”
