Nominations close for city and borough council elections
NOMINATIONS have closed for the City of Greater Geelong and Borough of Queenscliffe council elections, and a large field of candidates have thrown their hat in the ring.
Candidates had until noon on Tuesday this week to formally declare their intentions to run with the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC).
According to the VEC website as of Tuesday afternoon, there are 10 candidates for the three-seat Bellarine Ward covering the Bellarine Peninsula. Nominations close for city and borough council elections. In ballot order, they are:
- Tom O’Connor
- Elsie Wilkinson
- Stephanie Asher
- Trent Sullivan
- Naomi Adams
- Jim Mason
- Michael Fairweather
- Cory Wolverton
- Tom Harrison
- Stephen Simmonds.
In Kardinia Ward, covering southern Geelong, the field is even larger, with 12 candidates competing for the three seats. In ballot order, they are:
- Jack Williams
- Ron Nelson
- Andy Richards
- Pat Murnane
- Atamjit Singh
- Belinda Moloney
- Anthony Hamilton-Smith
- Bruce Harwood
- Andrew Alexander
- Mark Brunge
- Jen Gamble
- Michael Stangel.
The Borough of Queenscliffe, which has no wards, has produced a field of 11 candidates competing for five seats. In ballot order, they are:
- Susan Salter
- Isabelle Tolhurst
- Michael Grout
- Robert Minty
- Jacqui Pierce
- Ross Ebbels
- Geoffrey Mathews
- Donnie Grigau
- Fleur Hewitt
- Amanda Hoysted
- Zelda Walters.
