THE Ocean Grove Football Netball Club’s Pink Day fundraiser has helped to deliver a huge $15,500 boost to the Breast Cancer Network Australia.

The Grubbers held the eleventh edition of their pink themed ladies day last weekend, with more than 280 players, volunteers, local supporters and businesses filling the clubrooms and participating in raffles, auctions, and lucky dips to raise funds for the cause.

On the field, Ocean Grove’s netballers also got behind the theme by donning special pink dresses, while the club’s footballers wore pink socks in their matchups against Queenscliff.

OGFNC netball director Gill Hodgson said the day far exceeded expectations from a fundraising perspective.

“We had 240 ladies attend the event and it just worked out to be just a fantastic sunshiny day!

“The event was very well supported and it was a privilege to have Breast Cancer Network Australia CEO Kirsten Pilatti attend the event in person as well.

“We’ve run Pink Day for 11 years now and it continues to be an important event on our calendar that our whole club embraces.

“It’s definitely become a highlight of the season… to raise the funds we did was just terrific and it goes close to being our best result for BCNA in the history of our Pink Day events.”

The event was attended by more than 280 people.
