Ocean Grove Golf Club open new cart bridge
THE Ocean Grove Golf Club has opened a new golf cart bridge to improve accessibility and mobility for all players at the popular golf course.
The structure replaces an existing “unstable” foot bridge between the fourth and fifth holes of the golf course and will save players precious time when out on the green.
Bellarine MP Alison Marchant joined members of the Ocean Grove Golf Club to officially open the structure on behalf of the Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence, on Wednesday morning.
Ocean Grove Golf Club president Sandy Creswell said the club’s 390 members could not wait to use the bridge during play.
“It will have a lot of positive impacts for us moving forward, particularly with mobility around the course.
“It allows carts to get to the fourth and fifth straight away, rather than having to go down to the second or ninth hole to access it.
“One of our own club members Mark Watson was instrumental in engineering the cart bridge.
“It far exceeds what we had with the unacceptable foot bridge and looks absolutely sensational.”
The project has been made possible thanks to a $38,000 investment from the Victorian Government through the Community Golf Infrastructure Fund and a $35,000 chip in from the Ocean Grove Golf Club.
The Ocean Grove Golf Club is located at 9 Guthridge Street, Ocean Grove, 3226.
