MEMBERS from the Rotary Club of Ocean Grove have been made Paul Harris Fellows for their contributions to the club

Andrea Tierney was one of the Paul Harris Fellow recipients, recognised for her community service work within the club for the past 12 months.

“It’s a little bit humbling to be recognised and I certainly think there’s plenty of other people who probably do a lot more than I do,” she said.

One of the main projects Ms Tierney supports is “Say No to Domestic Violence”, one that is a big focus for Rotary this year.

Ms Tierney was looking for somewhere she could volunteer when she went to Kathmandu and saw the worldwide impact Rotary has. She’s now been a member for six years and enjoys being more involved in the community.

She also spends her time volunteering with the Salvation Army, and encourages people to get behind the charity.

“At the moment with homelessness and the way the economy is going, there are people out there struggling,” she said.

“We go out on the outreach van on a Friday night around the Bellarine and to Geelong and it is just an incredible service they’re doing.

The other Paul Harris Fellow recipients were Meredith O’Neill, Noel Emselle, Peter Cowburn, Lynne Carlson and Rod Bush.

They were also recognised for their ongoing commitment to the foundation.
