Ocean Grove’s Santa Run cancelled

December 17, 2020 BY

Santa is mobbed by children during the 2017 Christmas Eve Santa Run in Ocean Grove.

THERE will be no Santa Run on Christmas Eve in Ocean Grove this year, with the annual event called off because of the continuing impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week, the Ocean Grove Fire Brigade released a statement regretfully advising it was unable to conduct the Santa run “due to the ongoing COVID-19 constraints and CFA advice”.

“We understand that this will come as a great disappointment to the community, especially the children who love seeing Santa on the fire truck. Our members are extremely disappointed that they will not be able to bring the Christmas cheer to the Ocean Grove community this year.

“While a very difficult decision was made to cancel, we know it was in the best interests of the community and our members to ensure the health and safety of all involved.

“We very much look forward to a rewarding 2021, where we will once again have Santa coming around on the fire truck.

“The Ocean Grove Fire Brigade wishes you all a merry Christmas and a fire-safe new year.”

The Santa Run typically makes about 15 stops across Ocean Grove each year.
