Ocean Grove Primary School’s Grade 4 basketball girls’ and boys’ teams will head off to the Junior All Stars state Finals in Dandenong on November 26.

BASKETBALL fever has hit Ocean Grove Primary School, with both their girls’ and boys’ teams making it to the state finals.

The Grade 4 All Stars girls and Grade 4 All Star boys’ teams both successfully won their games on October 24.

They participated in the Bulla Hoop Time Junior All Stars regional finals, at Eagle Stadium in Werribee.

Bulla Hoop Time is a basketball tournament that gives students the opportunity to play across Victoria.

Ocean Grove Primary School PE teacher Richard Hughes said he was thrilled with the effort of the teams.

“It’s a fierce competition and at the end of the day to win both grand finals was fantastic,” Mr Hughes said.

Both teams will now head off to the Junior All Stars State Finals, which will be held in Dandenong on November 26.

Players Asha Boyd and Austin Gill were both excited and proud of how their teams played.

“We really worked hard and supported each other throughout the day, we were nervous and thrilled all at the same time,” Austin, 10, said.

“We’d also like to say a huge thanks to our coaches Mel Stewart and Pru Ellis and to our Mums and dads for taking us especially since it was a Geelong public holiday,” Asha, 10, said.

Everyone at OGPS is wishing both teams every success at the coming state finals in November.
