Oh boy, it’s a buoy at Ocean Grove
A GIANT yellow buoy washed ashore at Ocean Grove’s Collendina Beach last week, much to the amusement of many locals.
The buoy is used to mark the wreck of the HMAS Canberra, a popular Ocean Grove dive site.
Bernadette Darby took to social media with a photo of her find and the title “Not your usual beach combing find at 7W”.
Mandy Howard joked “oooh sculptures on the beach have come to OG”, while Peter Jones asked “Is it one of the Drifters on tour?”
After more than 200 reactions and 30 comments, Jen Walsh said “This buoy might need its own FB page!”
A Parks Victoria spokesperson said the buoy was removed from the beach a day or two later, and a contractor reinstated it at the dive site.
