Open date for Drysdale pool revealed

THE North Bellarine Aquatic Centre will open to the public for the first time in November, the City of Greater Geelong has confirmed.

Swimmers will make their first splash in the new Drysdale pool at 6am on November 1, when there will be an official opening.

A free community open day that weekend will add to the opening festivities later this year.

The city announced the news via the Facebook page of Ocean Grove’s Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre this week.

“The City of Greater Geelong is thrilled to announce the grand opening date of the brand new North Bellarine Aquatic Centre,” it stated.

“Join us on the first Sunday in November for a day of aquatic fun and community celebration as we unveil this state-of-the-art facility.

Whether you’re a serious swimmer or just looking for a fantastic family day out, this is the place to be this summer.

“The open day will be a great opportunity for us to come together as a community and celebrate this amazing addition to the Bellarine and the Swim Sport & Leisure network.”

November’s opening will mark the end of stage one of the project, which includes an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool, all-abilities change facilities and a kiosk.

Planning is ongoing for a the project’s second stage, which will construct an indoor facility at the site including an eight-lane 25-metre pool, warm water pool, café, gym and other associated facilities.
