OWEN MARKS ANOTHER ANZAC BIRTHDAY

May 23, 2018 BY

This newspaper’s recent Anzac Day coverage included this picture of Owen Nichol (first from right, in tweed jacket) at Point Lonsdale, who happened to be celebrating his birthday on Anzac Day. Unfortunately, we had him turning 93, not 90. Born in 1928, Mr Nichol has marked many of his birthdays by taking part in Anzac Day marches, wearing the Pacific Star awarded to Mr Nichols’ father for service in Papua New Guinea during World War II, as well as the Military Cross awarded to Mr Nichols’ uncle for gallantry in World War I.
