A 54-year-old Ocean Grove man has been airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital this morning after being stuck by a vehicle in Belmont.

Emergency services attended the scene shortly after 11am, after a vehicle mounted the footpath on the corner of High Street and Roslyn Road and collided with a building, understood to be Bupa Dental.

The 54-year-old man was standing at the dental practice’s reception desk at the time of impact. A spokesperson for Victoria Police confirmed he is in a serious, but non-life-threatening condition.

The driver of the vehicle, a 45-year-old Portarlington woman, was not injured and has since been arrested. She returned a positive preliminary breath test and was transported by road to University Hospital Geelong as a precaution.

The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information that could assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit crimestoppers.com.au.

The collision sparked significant delays through the busy intersection that lasted into the afternoon, with emergency services closing traffic in both directions.
