THE Queenscliff Pier has once again been transformed into an open-air gallery, with the installation of this year’s entries to the Queenscliff Arts Prize bringing a burst of colour to the township.
More than 110 artworks are now on display along the pier, set against the backdrop of Port Phillip Bay, showcasing entries from artists across Australia.
This year’s competition attracted works spanning ten categories, including portraiture, mixed media, digital art, printmaking, photography and landscape. More than 15 pieces also feature accompanying quotes, adding another layer to the viewing experience.
Exhibition curator, Chris Macleod, said the concept continued to resonate strongly with artists and the local community.
“We were rapt with the number of entries this year, and many people from across the country have entered multiple works. Many new artists have also jumped on board,” he said.
“The artists just love it … I get so many images of them standing beside their installed artwork. They feel proud to see their work exhibited in such a great location.”
Smaller duplicate versions of each artwork have also been installed along the Queenscliff Harbour boardwalk, allowing the exhibition to extend beyond the pier itself.
The artworks will remain on display at the Queenscliff Pier and Queenscliff Harbour until April, when winners of the 2026 Queenscliff Arts Prize will be announced.
