The event raised money for the McGrath Foundation.

PORTARLINGTON Cricket Club’s Pink Stumps Day proved to be a fantastic event at the weekend, raising almost $3000 for the McGrath Foundation.

Organisers said the event, which was postponed due to the pandemic, attracted a great turnout of 85 guests on Saturday.

Organiser Claire Heatlie said the event raised double the funds compared to last year’s pink day fundraiser, totalling $2971.

“It was a fantastic day,” Claire said.

“We had such a great turnout and there were heaps of raffles and winners, and we raised $2971… double last year!”

All funds raised will go to the McGrath Foundation to support the work they do providing breast care nurses.

The theme was dress to impress and the ladies all wore something pink.

There was a high tea on offer at the event and glass of bubbles on arrival.

The Knitted Knockers spoke about their work making cotton prosthesis for breast cancer women who have had a mastectomy.

“We were so thrilled with the amount of interest this year and are so thankful for everyone’s support,” Claire said.
