It’s play time at Queenscliff primary
QUEENSCLIFF Primary School pupils are enjoying their new playground, which is double the size of their old one and boasts views of Swan Bay.
Principal Richard Buckingham said the school had experienced significant enrolment growth over the past 18 months going from 10 students to 55.
Significant buildings and grounds works have taken place over this time, including the rejuvenation replacement of the old play equipment.
“The kids love that it’s more than twice the size of the old playground, how high it is and that they can see right over Swan Bay from it,” he said.
“They also love having slides because they haven’t had one before.”
The school raised more than $40,000 in funds locally through its association with a major fundraiser, administering the Queenscliffe Community Markets as well as other fundraising throughout the year.
The school were also extremely fortunate to be successful in obtaining a $3,500 grant through the Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale Community Enterprise and Bendigo Bank in 2017.
“A great effort and testament to the hard work and dedication of our school community,” Mr Buckingham said.
“We are currently planning our next playground addition.”
The school is still accepting enrolments across all year levels.
