Point Lonsdale Back Beach ramp repaired after storm damage
THE Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) will conduct its regular patrolling distance this summer following the reopening of the town’s Back Beach ramp.
Point Lonsdale SLSC is back to its usual patrol of the town’s Back Beach, following the temporary closure of the area’s beach ramp, which forced the club to reduce its patrol distance from the coast’s 3W marker to 2W in late November.
“Exciting news, our Back Beach ramp is now functional!” the club announced in mid-December.
“With that, we are happy to announce we are patrolling out of our usual spot of 3W rather than our temporary location of 2W.
“Many thanks to the Borough of Queenscliffe Council staff who understood the importance of the ramp for the club’s ability to deliver our lifesaving service and kept us regularly briefed on the project and when the repair would be completed.”
The Borough of Queenscliffe determined on December 3 the beach ramp was deemed unusable due to the heavy storms that lashed the region prior to December.
The Borough classified the work as a priority in-line with active summer beach patrols and large visitor numbers to the region.
“Council continues to work on other infrastructure assets that have been damaged and will keep you updated as progress continues,” a Borough of Queenscliff statement said.
