A BELLARINE surf life saving club is launching a recruitment drive for the upcoming season.
Point Lonsdale SLSC is looking to have more people involved and president Charlie Pitney said more recruits help build the feeling of community and spread the workload.
“The risk you run in a volunteer organisation is that a small amount of people end up doing the heavy lifting resulting in burn out and general lack of interest,” he said.
“We want to spread this load so that more people are actively engaging with one another in our club, and I believe it will actually result in a greater sense of community among our members.”
This season volunteers are more important than normal, as the club house is set for redevelopment meaning that Point Lonsdale SLSC will have to adapt without one for a while.
Whether people are interested in a role on the lifesaving team, or the media and communications team, there is a vast range of volunteer roles available to people.
As well as helping the community, these volunteer roles offer a chance for people to develop personally and professionally.
Mr Pitney said the club was open to new ideas.
“If you have suggestion, help us implement it by joining our team. We want to make this club fun and enjoyable for all and we need your help.”
