Portarlington carols return
ORGANISERS of the Portarlington Community Christmas Carols say the event is back and better than ever with a new location and stellar line-up announced for tonight’s show.
After a after a two-year hiatus due to COVID, this year’s carols will be at the Senior Citizens park next to the ANZAC cenotaph and will be headlined by the Piano Bar’s Andy Pobjoy and Shandelle Cook, along with local guest artists Guy Tucker, Simone Warnock, Julie Rock and Peter Drew, who’ll be accompanied by a band and choir.
“Everyone’s been asking me ‘when are the carols back’, it’s a real cornerstone in the community and because we haven’t been able to do it everyone’s even more excited,” organiser Julie Rock said.
There will be a sausage sizzle and coffee van on site and people are encouraged to bring their own chairs and picnic rugs.
Santa is also tipped to make an appearance along with the local CFA and there will be a live nativity dress up and parade.
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year, we are so excited to have the Portarlington Christmas Carols event this year,” Ms Rock said.
“I think being back bigger and better is a good way to describe it, we’ve got some great local artists to showcase which his part of our criteria…our new venue this year showcases the best Portarlington has to offer.
“We’re always looking for guests artists for future years, so if anyone is looking to participate in the choir or band, please get in touch.”
The carols are on Friday 16th of December, from 7.30pm, at Portarlington Park near the war memorial, and for people looking to get involved in future events contact: [email protected]
