PORTARLINGTON is set to welcome visitors for the National Celtic Folk Festival next month, thanks to a $58,000 boost from the state government.

The National Celtic Folk Festival was a successful recipient of funding from the Government’s Regional Events Fund and Multicultural Festivals and Events Fund.

Member for Bellarine, Alison Marchant, announced the funding to support the festival, which will take place in June 2024.

“We are proud to support events like the National Celtic Folk Festival because they encourage people to visit regional destinations and enjoy the wide range of experiences on offer,” she said.

“The National Celtic Folk Festival will be a fantastic long-weekend celebration that is set to bring more visitors to the Bellarine Peninsula, providing a boost to local businesses and jobs.”

“Cultural celebrations are a way for all Victorians to take part in events that foster understanding and appreciation for all communities, and they are a powerful contribution Victoria’s richly diverse multicultural landscape.”

The festival takes place from June 7 to June 10 along the foreshore and in various venues throughout Portarlington.

There will be a diverse range of arts and activities, including poetry, cuisine, markets, workshops, and children’s entertainment.

Celebrating its 20th year in Portarlington and boasting a history in the greater Geelong region spanning over 30 years, the festival is the largest of its kind in Australia.
