THE Portarlington Golf Club has finished its renovation and extension project, and opened the facilities to the public on Monday this week.
The $2.7 million works were completed on time and on budget.
The extended bistro area along with the new extension provides the club with a total seating capacity of just over 500 people, which will give the club the flexibility to simultaneously conduct functions and cater for its members during golfing events.
The club held a ceremony on Friday last week to celebrate the opening with representatives from the Portarlington Business Development Association and Bendigo Bank.

Portarlington Golf Club chief executive officer Ron Stockdale said the new facilities were a two-year exercise from start to finish but he was very happy with the final result.
“There’s spectacular views of the golf course, which was the ultimate intention of the design.
“We’re absolutely thrilled with it.”
Portarlington Golf Course was open for lunch and dinner on Monday, Tuesday and yesterday (Wednesday, August 5) but has now closed for dining (though it remains open for golf) as a result of the reintroduced Stage 3 coronavirus restrictions.
Mr Stockdale said the closure was a little disappointing so soon after the opening, but the club was still taking inquiries for anyone interested in using the now-larger venue for weddings in 2021.
