Portarlington Golf Club honours Bond… David Bond

DAVID Bond’s unwavering passion for Portarlington Golf Club has earned him a life membership at the club.
Mr Bond received the honour at the club’s annual general meeting in October.
His achievements include winning the 2017 Community Club’s Victoria Club Official of the Year.
Mr Bond has been a member of Portarlington Golf Club for more than 38 years, including 12 years’ service as a Board Member and 11 years as Honorary Secretary.
He has also attended a staggering 136 out of 144 board meetings during the 11 years he has been Honorary Secretary.
The club said that this was a terrific achievement considering Mr Bond was able to travel extensively overseas and to Australian locations.
Mr Bond demonstrates the perfect “life balance”, while maintaining an unwavering passion for the Club.
He was also integral in 2018 facilitating the merging of the men’s and ladies’ golf committees, into one equal gender entity, with one club captain.
This visionary approach has had other clubs seeking Mr Bond’s counsel to move forward on the same issue.
When Mr Bond was not articulating accurate minutes during board meetings or travelling to exotic locations, he still found time for a round of golf twice a week and has a monthly medal, grade championship and a hole-in-one to his credit.
Mr Bond tenured his resignation from the board and his role as secretary at the October AGM.
