PORTARLINGTON Golf Club has opened applications to this year’s Community Contribution Fund.

Not-for-profit community and sporting organisations within the City of Greater Geelong and Northern Bellarine are invited to apply for the $12,000 fund.

This year marks the sixth year of the initiative, established to support the community in making positive improvements to develop their association and wider community.

Portarlington Golf Club chief executive officer Michael Phillips said the fund was established to help groups and organisations.

“It’s designed to help them with projects and plans they have, not only to benefit the specific group but also to help the community more broadly.

“We’re looking to help clubs and organisations improve their own facilities, but at the same time, those facilities, if they can benefit the community more broadly, that’s the ones that we look more favourably upon.”

Applications will need to demonstrate how the funding will be used and how it contributes to the wider community and will be assessed on addressing an important need, the target group, capacity to manage the funding effectively and value and timeliness of the project.

Past recipients include Food Assist 3223 who received funding to help them deliver food relief to families and individuals in the region.

“They get money to not only help their charity, but in doing so it really benefits the entire community and that’s one of the premises and why the club gives grants to specific applicants,” Mr Phillips said.

Applications are open now and will close on May 30 with successful applications advised on June 13.
