Sell-out pink stumps fundraiser set to be an amazing day
PORTARLINGTON Cricket Club’s Pink Stumps Day this weekend is sold out, with organisers hoping to raise lots of money for the McGrath Foundation.
The event, which begins this Saturday, February 13 at 12.30pm, promises to be “an amazing day, filled with wine, raffles, music, and laughs”.
All funds raised will go to the McGrath Foundation to support the work they do providing Breast Care Nurses.
Organiser Carly Turner said COVID-19 had forced the club’s hand to cap numbers at 100 attendees this year.
“Last year we raised $1400, so it will be great to raise double the funds.
“We’ll have a table set up of prizes and ladies will be able to buy a ticket in the $1 raffle, there will be door prizes, lucky draws, live music, a cocktail or frozen daiquiri for the day… something a little fancy.
“It’s dress to impress and the ladies will wear something pink.
“We combine it with ladies day and now we have a women’s team it’s added a whole new dimension to the club as a whole.”
There will be a high tea on offer at the event and glass of bubbles on arrival.
She said she was confident everyone would have a “grouse day and raise lots of money”.
Organiser Claire Heatlie said the Knitted Knockers would speak about their work making cotton prosthesis for breast cancer women who have had a mastectomy.
She said a breast care nurse would also speak about the importance of her role, and a relative of one of their members would share how having a breast care nurse helped her.
“We are so thrilled with the amount of interest this year and are so thankful for everyone’s support,” Ms Heatlie said.
“We cannot wait to have such an amazing day for such an amazing cause.”
