PORTARLINGTON has appointed assistant coach Nathan Storer and co-captain Mitch Turnbull to replace sacked senior coach Darren Findlay.
They will take the lead as the Demons host bottom-placed Ocean Grove in BFL Round 9 on Saturday (June 7) at 2.10pm.
The Demons sacked Findlay last week, following their 102-point loss to Queenscliff in Round 7.
The sacking came after the team had lost four matches in a row to Drysdale, Torquay, Anglesea and the Coutas.
Findlay was the Demons’ new coach after taking the reins from Warren Finlayson.
President Steve Cogger confirmed that injured captain Turnbull coached the team against Geelong Amateur in Round 8 with support from the reserves coaches and the leadership group.
The Demons went down 16.13 (109) to 6.11 (47) at home after trailing by 42 points at quarter time.
Portarlington is ninth on the ladder with two wins and six losses.
The Dees won two of their opening three matches, including a good win against Newcomb who started the season in hot form.
Cogger declined to comment further on the coaching situation.
