THE City of Greater Geelong is considering the sale of two council-owned sites in Ocean Grove.
At its February meeting earlier this week, the council voted to begin public consultation on the proposed sale of 94 The Parade, a “small pocket park”, and 89-91 The Terrace, which is currently being used as a car park.
Cr Elise Wilkinson said the Ocean Grove community was passionate about protecting their beautiful landscape and the proposed sale was likely to draw a significant response.
She said the move was a “nod” to the recommendations outlined in the Ocean Grove Township Urban Design Framework, adopted by the council in 2014, which aims to enhance commercial development in the area.
“Engagement will be sought from the community and bring on the opinions and feedback for this proposed sale,” Cr Wilkinson said.

“A really important point in the proposed sale of this land, is it’s both a divestment and an investment.
“The proceeds from the land sale will be reinvested into the community, focusing on enhancing the public spaces and connectivity to the retail and commercial centre.”
Cr Trent Sullivan said the proposed sale was the result of long-term planning.
“This is really inviting the community to come forth and have a comment on this.
“It’s a popular thoroughfare, so we want to make sure that everybody has their say.”
