ST LEONARDS Primary School pupils gathered to thank members of their local men’s shed during a ceremony last week.

School captains Brianna and Max said the St Leonards Men Shed made a gaga pit for the pupils, and also landscaped around it, plus made them a veggie patch.

“We thanked them for building the paths, the veggie garden near our portable, the gaga pit and so much more,” the pupils said.

“We presented them with a plaque, a book and a tree to honour their work.

“Kalen and Ethan helped John, who is the president, plant a red wattle.”

Brianna and Max said they appreciated what the members had done for them, and all of their support they have given them throughout the years.

“We love going down to the Men’s Shed Workshop and having them work and teach us many different things.”

Principal Jenny Cowburn said some of the work that the Men’s Shed had done was funded through the City Of Greater Geelong Community Grants, but over the past couple of years, the school had built some wonderful relationships with the group.

“They love working with our pupils and the feeling is mutual,” Ms Cowburn said.

“We are very fortunate to live in such a caring and giving community.”
