QMF dazzles in the Borough

MORE than 9,000 people danced away and enjoyed four days of non-stop entertainment at Queenscliff Music Festival.

Last week’s event featured more than 100 musicians and performers who entertained attendees across ten different locations including three main stages inside the foreshore grounds.

Thursday evening kicked off with breathtaking tunes from the likes of local singer/songwriter Leah Senior and Frank Sultana Blues Band and wrapped up with The Badloves putting on a show at the Queenscliff Brewhouse.

Australian rap royalty Illy and folk pop band The Dreggs were the crowd favourites on Friday evening, while Chook and Molluck and Alice Ivey were also pleasing.

A jam-packed Saturday saw more than 40 acts take to the stage across all ten festival locations.

On the main Lighthouse Stage, local settled in for the long haul with indie artist Chitra Ridwan, Australian rock legend Ian Moss, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, G Love and & Special Sauce and American hitmaker Aloe Blacc all dancing into the night on the mainstage.

PBS Radio groove master Vince Peach had locals hips swaying in the Ozone Lounge, while Calle Luna, The Merindas, Burger Joint and Racoon Dog also featured during the day.

Sunday’s action kicked off with some yoga loves music on the Glaneuse Stage, before festivalgoers moved around to listen to the likes of Felipe Baldomir, The Slingers, Dan Sultan and indie folk band Boy & Bear.

The festival wrapped up with back-to-back bands at the Queenscliff Brewhouse until 9pm.

Queenscliff Music Festival director, Andrew Orvis said the event would go down as one to remember.

“It was absolutely great and such a wonderful weekend,” he said.

“We somehow lucked out with a lot of the weather around too, which for the most part missed us at the festival.

“It’s always hard to pick your favourites of the festival, it’s somewhat like picking a favourite child, you just can’t, I loved them all.

“It felt like home for a lot of people, and it was great to see the crowds and the artists smiling and enjoying themselves so much.”
