HUNDREDS of hot rods will roar down the Bellarine Highway for the popular Queenscliff Hot Rod next weekend.

The annual three-day festival starts on Friday, February 2 and will celebrate classic rides and the coastal charm of the Bellarine.

The hot rod extravaganza will begin with a meet and greet and barbecue and refreshments on Friday evening. An activities day at Adventure Park and car cruise lunch will follow on Saturday, before the annual short cruise down the main street of Queenscliff takes place in the evening.

The main street cruise is exclusively open to Queenscliff Hot Road entrants only.

The ‘Show and Shine’ car showcase will wrap up the festival at Lower Princess Park in Queenscliff on Sunday.

Event organiser and Geelong Street Rodders president Greg Morrisey said the community are “revved up” for a roaring weekend.

“We will probably end up with about 650 entrants, which is just terrific.

“It’ll be a jam-packed weekend of fun with the social side of it, the showing and displaying of the cars and the return of the main street cruise.

“We truly can’t wait.”

The Queenscliff Rod Run requires a $5 entry fee from attendees and visitors, which will go to the Queenscliff Point Lonsdale Lions Club.

“The Lions Club supports so many charities and groups in town and we are thrilled to have them involved,” Mr Morrisey said.

“Their volunteers will man the Princess Park gates and are sure to greet our hot rodders with a huge smile.

“The Queenscliff Cricket Club, Sea Scouts, and the mason’s group will also be helping with selling food and managing entries and registrations.

“We are proud the event can provide these local groups with a cash influx they can then distribute towards some fantastic community projects.”
