Queenscliff Uniting Church launches atrium project

October 11, 2018 BY

THE Courtyard Atrium is an exciting new community venture at the Queenscliff Uniting Church.

More than 40 people recently attended the launch of the project, enjoying drinks and nibbles while the potential uses and architectural design of the atrium were explained.

Richard Allen said that the atrium would be about 10 metres by 5 metres, creating an open or weather proof space, over the south west courtyard area.

Mr Allen said it would have a clear hipped style roof, in keeping with the current aesthetic and architecture of the church and Bay Room.

“With clear, sturdy blinds which can be easily zipped open or closed, this new light filled space will be cool or warm as required,” he said.

Kerrie Lingham said the Courtyard Atrium would complement and extend the current Uniting Church spaces.

“It will be helpful when all other spaces are in use, as an extra cafe or meeting space or for overflow during large events,” Ms Lingham said.

“The atrium will have a different vibe to the current facilities, so will also provide an attractive area for new types of community gatherings, such as small groups, creative activities and personal events.”

Members of the church are currently crowd funding for the Atrium Project.

The project will cost $40,000, and they are half way there.
