Red Cross is calling in the Borough this March

March 7, 2018 BY

Members of the Point Lonsdale/Queenscliff Red Cross Unit, known locally as the P’s and Q’s Red Cross unit, will be collecting this month.

THE Point Lonsdale/Queenscliff Red Cross Unit, known locally as the P’s and Q’s Red Cross unit, will be hitting the streets this month to raise money for people who have fallen on tough times.

Records show that during the past 25 years, the small Borough of Queenscliffe has donated more than $250,000 to the cause.

“This would not have been possible without the generosity of borough residents, but also the Red Cross members and locals who volunteer to door knock each year,” P’s and Q’s Red Cross unit president Val Lawrence said.

“But we are unsure about how long this will continue as many of our members and volunteers are ageing and there is a great need for some younger volunteers to assist.”

The Red Cross Calling campaign is taking place in March again this year bringing communities together in a show of support for people in Australia and overseas who have fallen on tough times.

Public support helps Red Cross be there for people at home and overseas, whether it’s standing by someone as they recover from disaster, helping someone to get to their hospital appointments when no-one else is around, or lending a hand to newly arrived migrants.
