Relay raises almost $19,500 to help fight cancer
THE 2018 Bellarine Relay For Life has raised almost $19,500 for Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services.
More than 140 participants took up the challenge to relay to fight back against cancer at Leopold Primary School last weekend.
Relay For Life community engagement co-ordinator Nicole Petzke said it was great to see the local community come together to fundraise and enjoy such a great event.
“The participants took part in activities throughout the event such as trick or treating, sack races, a scavenger hunt, soccer and netball challenges, name that tune, Zumba and plenty more,” Ms Petzke said.
“Other highlights included amazing musicians, including some high school students from Bellarine Secondary College all donating their time to be there.
“There were prizes for the best dressed team, campsite, baton and highest fundraiser, which went to local bakery team Rolling Pin.
“Our Spirit of Relay Award went to Jyalls Maloney, who completed the entire 18 hours on the track by himself.”
Ms Petzke said there was still time donate, with banking open online until November 25.
