THE Victorian government has promised to consult widely with the community as part of a review of bus services in Geelong and surrounds.
The Department of Transport and Planning regularly reviews the bus network to identify where improvements can be made, and the 2025/26 state budget allocated funding for localised development work across regional Victoria to deliver bus network plans for high-priority areas.
According to the Victorian government, the staged reviews will be “underpinned by a strong understanding of travel demand” and identify gaps and opportunities across regional bus networks, enabling a proactive response to emerging priorities.
The coming bus network review for Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula and Bannockburn will include Fyansford, with consideration given to how the locality could be serviced with public transport.
“We have long understood that improved bus connectivity is vital for residents to access schools, jobs, hospitals and other services,” the government stated.
“Community consultation will teach us how people use buses and will allow for residents to have access to buses that best suit their needs.
“A wide range of communities’ feedback will provide for the best results.”
Geelong MP Christine Couzens said more information on the review, including how to give feedback, would be released soon.
“We have long been listening to the needs of the Geelong community and thank those of you who have contacted our office and expressed your desire for a bus review.”
