ROADS around the region are in line for an upgrade as a road maintenance blitz takes off across the state.

A Victorian government initiative, as part of the blitz key roads across Victoria, including along the Bellarine Highway, Princes Highway West and Surf Coast Highway will be rebuilt and repaired.

The upcoming repairs are backed by a record $976 million investment, with 70 per cent going towards

regional roads.

“Our roads are essential to our community, and this investment is crucial for ensuring they are smoother and more reliable,” Bellarine MP Alison Marchant said.

Works will begin in the coming months, with the last of the projects to be completed in mid-2026. This year’s program will target the state’s busiest travel and trade routes.

As part of the blitz, crews will work on road rehabilitation and resurfacing, patching potholes, maintaining bridges, installing traffic lights and signage.

Crews will also mow, slash and spray roadsides throughout the maintenance blitz.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne said the government is delivering the biggest single-year investment in road maintenance in Victoria’s history.

“We’re investing nearly a billion dollars to rebuild and repair the roads that Victorians depend on every single say — from the highways connecting our major centres to the local roads that keep our communities moving.”

Roads targeted within the project were selected based on expert assessments and community feedback.
