OCEAN Grove’s Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes has taken home five gold medals, one silver and a guernsey in the Great Aussie Pie Hall of Fame after it’s success in the 33rd Official Great Aussie Pie Competition.

Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes was up against hundreds of businesses from across Australia in the competition, battling it out for the highly sought-after Great Aussie Pie championship crown in a dozen different divisions.

After three days of testing and indulging on 1500 entries, judges deemed the Ocean Grove establishment winners of the best seafood pie in Australia with their popular ‘Surf ‘n’ Turf’, the winner of the best red meat pie for their ‘Lamb and Rosemary’, as well as a gold medallist for their delicious chunky mince, plain mince and Thai red curry pie.

While their creamy mushroom and truffle pie was enough to take out the top prize at the Baking Association of Australia’s annual competition in Sydney in June, it secured a silver medal in the competition.

The Ocean Grove establishment has taken out two of Australia’s biggest pie awards in 2022.

Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes manager Nathan Williams said it was a proud moment to secure another five awards and a spot in the Great Aussie Pie Hall of Fame.

“We are all remarkably proud to take out a number of awards at what is the longest running pie contest in Australia,” Mr Williams said.

“We have been entering this competition for close to 30 years and it’s one of two national competitions that are held each year that we have now taken out in 2022.

“Because of our previous success, we go into each contest with high expectations, but to win a host of awards and to achieve gold medals which are given out for pies that are well above industry standard is certainly an honour.

“To top it off, getting nominated into the Great Aussie Pie Hall of Fame was just amazing, I’ve never seen the awards honour anyone like this so it felt very special to receive this status.”

Williams said the number of awards and the criteria to be inducted into the Hall of Fame was extensive and mentioned that it was a huge surprise and distinction that the business will remember for a long time.
