Rotary acknowledges top local service
THE Bellarine North Rotary Club has acknowledged the good work of 42 local businesses at its annual awards.
The organisation formally known as the Rotary Club of Drysdale asked the community to nominate businesses who looked after them and went above and beyond to provide good service.
Publicity officer Caroline Rickard said over the last several years the community has looked forward to the awards, with this year being no different.
“With about 100 guests at the Portarlington Golf Club, we recognised 42 businesses with a certificate,” she said.
“It was good to see so many people enjoying getting to know one another and to be able to join in acknowledging these special awards.
“As you visit these places look out for the certificates on display and congratulate the owners and operators.”
During the night Dimo’s Mechanical Repairs from Drysdale was declared the winning business for 2021 after being nominated by an 85-year-old local man who has been accessing their services for more than 20 years.
The nomination which received a cheque for $200 said: “Chris Dimo and his son Leigh have always without fail given me excellent service. They are very competent, reliable and honest. I am 85 years old and in all my long life they have been the standard motor service people – the best I have ever experienced. Their excellent service is deserving of recognition and I wish them continued success.”
Ms Rickard said the event was a way of showcasing local businesses and bringing attention to those who offer great service.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate their favourite business or service this enables us to give some recognition back for their hard work, ” she said.
“To the other nominations, keep up the good work, we are in a small town and a good reputation is what builds businesses.”
