THE Rotary Club of Queenscliffe has donated more than 100 handbags packed with toiletries and sanitary items to the It’s in the Bag project.

Organised by Share the Dignity, the project makes an on-the-ground difference to homeless women and victims of domestic violence.

Rotary Club of Queenscliffe president Karen Pecar said the club would like to thank everyone who donated handbags, toiletries and cash to their project.

“Donations of bags far exceeded our expectations and more than 100 beautiful handbags were packed with toiletries and sanitary items and delivered to Share the Dignity for distribution to women in Geelong and on the Bellarine Peninsula.

“Spare bags and toiletries were also delivered.

“Special thanks to Sue and Peter at Point Lonsdale Guesthouse for storing all the donated items and Andrew at IGA for providing toiletries at cost.”

Meanwhile, Christmas came early for Queenscliffe Rotary with Corangamite federal member Sarah Henderson announcing the club would receive $10,000 for its outdoor exercise equipment project through the federal government’s Stronger Communities Program.
