THE Ocean Grove branch of the Salvation Army’s popular chain of thrift shops is a little short-staffed, and is keen to have a few more people on its roster.

The Salvos Thift Shop in Marine Parade is open six days a week and has issued a call for more volunteers to help out, particularly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

“Our store cannot consistently accept donations without the help of our incredible volunteers each day, and we need a few more hands on deck to continue to service our local community!” the shop posted on its official Facebook page earlier this month.

“If you have a spare day in your week, we would love to meet you.”

The shop offers affordable second-hand clothing, furniture and household goods, with funds raised going directly back into the community to support needy families on the Bellarine Peninsula.

The latest request for help follows a similar post in January, when the shop offered limited opportunities to volunteer in roles including driving, sorting, test and tagging, the online shop and social media.

There are more than 350 Salvos retail outlets across Australia.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer at the Salvos Thrift Shop in Ocean Grove should visit the store and ask for Jesse or Mary.
