August 22, 2019 BY

Samuel Shields with Shihan Robbie Adams, right, Clifton Springs Primary School principal Megan Parker and Frank Meek.

SAMUEL Shields went from being a shy and nervous young boy to now having all the confidence in the world.
When Samuel was six years old his parents thought karate could help him build up interpersonal skills like confidence, humility and help him with structure and routine.
Fast forward 16 years and this once shy little boy is now a fully-grown man with all the confidence in the world, so much so that he has just returned from Myanmar, Japan where he contested the middle heavy weight contact fights in the Asian Pacific Championships. Samuel fought hard in these fights and returned to the Bellarine a champion!
This is the latest trophy that Samuel adds to a very impressive list of wins.
Samuel has spent the last 16 years practicing his karate – he is now a Ni Dan (2nd Dan) Black belt and runs the Clifton Springs Dojo.
Samuel is keen to teach his knowledge to others and welcomes all to the Clifton Springs Dojo to try karate the Kyokushin Way.
