Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School pupils and staff are excited for construction to begin on a new multi-purpose building.

FUNDING from the state government has enabled Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School in Ocean Grove to begin construction on a new multi-purpose building.

The new facilities will include general learning and collaborative areas as well as staffing and storage spaces. One of the car parks at the school will also be extended.

In addition to $2 million of the Our Lady Star of the Sea invested themselves, the school received $2 million for the project from the state government’s Non-Government Schools Capital Fund.

Bellarine MP Lisa Neville said the project will help the school maintain its high standards.

“Our Lady Star of the Sea is a great school led by Principal Kerryn Sells and I have been pleased to work with, and on behalf of the school in securing government funding.

“The upgraded Our Lady Star of the Sea School will deliver the very best modern education facilities for its students and I congratulate the school for its hard work.”

Magellan Projects PL is undertaking slab excavation works at the school.

The project is expected to be complete by mid-2021.

The state government has committed $402 million to the Non-Government Schools Capital Fund, which goes towards upgrading and building new Catholic and independent schools.
