A GRAND selection of authors will visit every preschool and primary school in Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale next month.

The Queenscliffe Literary Festival Schools Program will take place from May 8 to May 15 and offer students a view into the world of storytelling.

This year’s program will feature Children’s Book Council of Australia winner Andrea Rowe, songwriting sisters Beth and Byll Stephen from the Teeny Tiny Stevies, well-known sports author Felice Arena and former journalist and teacher Huda Hayek.

Authors will take students through illustration and craft workshops, and talk about their writing journey.

QLF general manager Kirsty Wilson said excitement was high heading into the week of festivities.

“It’s a great line-up of authors. We are trying to cover everyone: the sporty kids, the arty kids and the kids interested in literature.

“The community support has been tremendous. The schools give us such good feedback.”

For the very first time, QLF will also host a free public event as part of the program.

The Teeny Tiny Stevies (Beth and Byll Stephen) will be meeting fans and signing books at the Queenscliff Book Store after school hours on May 8.

“It [the program] has always been more of a quiet achiever in the community,” Ms Wilson said.

“We are proud and excited to be making something available to the wider community for the first time.”

The QLF’s Schools Program is supported by the Borough of Queenscliffe and receives donations as people buy tickets for the adult festival program.
