THE festive season is fast approaching and the Ocean Grove Scout Group is well prepared to provide beautiful fresh Christmas trees to homes across the Bellarine.

Tree sales will take place at the Ocean Grove Scout Hall throughout early December, with funds raised going towards much-needed necessities for the club’s Joey, Cub and Scout members.

“The group is very excited for the tree sale fundraiser,” volunteer parent Keith Clark said.

“The funds we raise will go towards things like camps, equipment and one of the biggest scouts’ events of the year, the Victorian Jamboree.”

Sale days will take place on Saturday, December 4 and Saturday, December 11 at the Ocean Grove Park, and at the Gateway Plaza Leopold carpark on Saturday, December 4, Sunday, December 5, Saturday, December 11 and Sunday, December 12.

The trees available will start at $60 and there will be several options for purchasing a tree.

The first option is to pre-order your tree online at oceangrovescouts.com for either pick up on any of the sales days, or delivery on either of the two Saturdays. Deliveries will be available only to towns on the southern Bellarine from Barwon Heads to Queenscliff and as far north as Leopold.

More simply, the second option includes arriving to the Ocean Grove Park or Gateway Plaza in Leopold, selecting a tree and taking it home.

Christmas tree stands in various sizes are also available for purchase with stands starting at $45.

The Ocean Grove Scout Group also offers a pick-up service after Christmas to recycle Christmas trees.

Simply register for the pick-up service when purchasing a tree, and then leave the tree out for collection on Saturday, January 8.

A flat fee of $12.50 covers the pick-up and recycling of your tree within the pick-up zone.

“It’s a fun time of year for all youth members, parent helpers, committee members and group leaders as they gear up for their biggest fundraiser of the year!” Mr Clark said.

“We’re hoping for a big turnout as has been the case over the past 10 years and we have been working hard to promote the sale with Joey, Cub and Scout members placing promotional signs around the Ocean Grove Park and surrounding areas.”
