Sculpture by day, inferno by night at Queenscliff’s Low Light
CROWDS converged in Point Lonsdale and Queensscliff at the weekend to watch towering
sculptures ignite in a mass of flames.
The Low Light Winter Solstice sculpture burnings on Saturday celebrated the day of the year with the least amount of daylight hours.
The first sculpture – shaped like a lighthouse – was set alight on the Point Lonsdale village lookout, while another resembling a snowflake went up in flames on Queenscliff’s main street.
In consultation with a local artist, the unique and thought-provoking sculptures representing the towns and reflective of Low Light were erected, and on display in the lead up to the burnings.
