BARWON Heads will take on Geelong Amateur this weekend in what will be one of the most anticipated BFL final round clashes in recent years.
The Seagulls are coming off a 60-point win against Ocean Grove (15.17-107 to 6.11-47) at Howard Harmer Oval last Saturday, while Ammos beat Drysdale by 31 points (15.7-97 to 10.6-66) at KFC oval.
Barwon Heads sits in third place on the BFL ladder with 48 points, six points behind ladder leaders Geelong Amateur, which are on 54, and two points behind second-placed Anglesea, which are on 50.
K rock football commentator Tom King said having bounced back from a 53-point loss to Anglesea in Round 15 with consecutive wins over Modewarre and Drysdale, Ammos hold a one-game buffer on the Roos at the top of the ladder.
“However, a loss to the Seagulls and an Anglesea win over Newcomb will see Geelong Amateur start its finals campaign from a qualifying final,” King said.
“A loss for Barwon Heads will likely see it drop to an elimination final, with Modewarre and Torquay starting favourites in their final round clashes.”
King is predicting Geelong Amateur to win by 9 points, with the game taking place this Saturday at KFC Oval at 2.10pm.
Meanwhile, Ocean Grove will come up against Queenscliff on Saturday at Queenscliff Recreation Reserve at 2.10pm and look to end a disappointing season a winning note.
