SENATE RESULTS IN VICTORIA FINALISED

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has announced that the count for the election of six Senators for Victoria has been completed.

The successful candidates for the six Senate vacancies for Victoria are (in order of their election):

• James Paterson – Liberal
• Raffaele Ciccone – Australian Labor Party
• Jane Hume – Liberal
• Jess Walsh – Australian Labor Party
• Janet Rice – The Green
• David Van – Liberal

Derryn Hinch’s Justice Party leader Derryn Hinch sought re-election but could not hang onto his seat, nor did Labor Senator Gavin Marshall. Ms Walsh and Mr Van are the two new senators that replace them.

Australian Electoral Officer for Victoria Steve Kennedy said the distribution of preferences was conducted on June 19.

“As with all aspects of the count, the automated distribution of preferences undertaken today was open to scrutineers appointed by the candidates.”
